Muhammad Qutb
Muhammad Qutb (1919–2014) was an influential Egyptian Islamic scholar, author, and educator, best known as the younger brother of the prominent Islamist ideologue Sayyid Qutb. Born in Musha, Egypt, he graduated with a degree in English literature from Cairo University in 1940. Alongside his brother, he was imprisoned by the Egyptian government in 1965 due to his involvement with the Muslim Brotherhood. While his brother was executed, Muhammad's life was spared. After his release in 1971, he moved to Saudi Arabia, where he spent decades teaching Islamic studies at prestigious institutions like Umm al-Qura University in Mecca. He authored 36 books—including Islam: The Misunderstood Religion—and dedicated much of his life to editing, publishing, and curating his late brother's legacy. He passed away in Mecca at the age of 94.
