Masood Ahmed BSc (1922–1999) was a Pakistani religious figure, writer, and the founder of Jamaat-ul-Muslimeen (also known as the Masoodia group), a distinct and polarizing organization established in January 1962. Originally a school teacher with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree, he rejected traditional Sunni and Shia sectarian frameworks, as well as mainstream Salafi/Ahl-e-Hadith classifications. He advocated for a literalist adherence to the Quran and Sunnah, asserting that the only acceptable name or identifier for a believer is strictly "Muslim". Masood Ahmed became a highly controversial author due to his exclusivist theological views. He claimed that any religious group utilizing a title other than "Muslim"—such as Hanafi, Deobandi, Barelvi, or Ahl-e-Hadith—had drifted into sectarianism or disbelief. His most prominent book, *Al-Jamaat-ul-Qadeema*, laid the foundational dogma for his movement, emphasizing absolute allegiance to a single central leader (Ameer) and declaring his group to be the only legitimate manifestation of the global Muslim community. His bold assertions and polemical style triggered decades of fierce refutations and public debates (*Munazarahs*) with prominent contemporary Islamic scholars across South Asia. His other notable booklets and tracts include *Dawat-e-Haq*, *Hamara Deen*, and *Hamara Naam*, which continue to be circulated by his followers to propagate his non-traditional isolationist methodology.
