About Author:

M. Yousaf Kandhlavi (also known as Maulana Muhammad Yusuf Kandhlawi; 1917–1965) was a distinguished Indian Islamic scholar, traditionalist, and the second supreme leader (Ameer) of the global Islamic revivalist movement, the Tablighi Jamaat. Born in Kandhla, British India, into a family celebrated for its deep religious devotion and traditional Islamic learning, he memorized the Quran at the age of ten and completed his formal graduation in Islamic sciences from the prestigious seminary Mazahir Uloom Saharanpur in 1936. Following the death of his father, Maulana Muhammad Ilyas Kandhlawi (the movement's founder), in 1944, he was chosen to lead the Tablighi Jamaat. Under his dynamic, twenty-one-year leadership, the grassroots spiritual movement grew exponentially, expanding significantly from the Indian subcontinent into the Arab world and Western societies. Maulana Yousaf was also an exceptionally gifted author and researcher, universally acclaimed for his monumental contributions to Hadith literature and Islamic history. His most celebrated work is *Hayat al-Sahaba* (The Lives of the Companions), a meticulously researched Arabic compendium that captures the missionary struggles, moral ethics, and spiritual dedication of the Prophet Muhammad's companions. His other landmark scholarly works include *Amani al-Ahbar*, a comprehensive four-volume commentary on Imam al-Tahawi's classic text, and *Muntakhab Ahadith*, an expertly organized selection of prophetic traditions outlining the core principles of faith and propagation. He passed away in Lahore, Pakistan, on April 2, 1965, at the age of forty-eight.
